Navigating Unseen Challenges in East Texas
A new construction project for a midstream operator needed over 13,000 feet of pipeline installed through East and Central Texas. The project presented several unique challenges, including:
Superintendent: Carlton Loftin, James bond, and Wayne Robin
Location: Tyler, TX
Length: 13,139 feet
1. Variable Soil Types
The soil ranged from loose to silt sand. This variation could impact steering and borehole stability.
2. Design and Actuality Differences
The design differed from actual field conditions, which was discovered upon the start of the project.
MAXX HDD was contracted to help with this project and worked closely with the contractor, providing a redesign for key crossings. With three rigs running, the job was completed on time, on budget, and with no safety incidents.
