Tackling Dual Crossings
2,796 feet of pipe needed to be installed in an urban area for a midstream operator. The project involved two horizontal directional drilling (HDD) crossings, one under the Brazos River and the other under Interstate 10.
The project presented two primary challenges.
Superintendent: Carlton Loftin
Location: Katy, TX
Length: 2,796 feet
1. Complex Geological Conditions
The Brazos River required precise execution and monitoring, as there were layers of sand and gravel that could impact operations.
2. Dual-Crossing Logistics
Completing both a major river crossing and a large interstate crossing consecutively required meticulous planning to minimize potential delays.
MAXX HDD successfully completed both crossings with a DD-440 rig, streamlining operations and staying on schedule.
